To the New Life Family:

Thank you to all of you who attended our Sunday services on both campuses this past weekend. You all showed such cooperation and understanding in light of all the public health recommendations we sought to follow. We trust that you were blessed and encouraged nonetheless. For those who were unable to attend, you can watch the messages from last Sunday on our Facebook pages (, We want to continue to encourage you to apply faith and wisdom and to not be overwhelmed with fear and worry. God is still in control.

We also want to give you another update on how our church is responding to the new information we have received over the past couple days with regard to the COVID19 outbreak. Recently, the Center for Disease Control ( has communicated on its website their recommendation to postpone public gatherings of 50 or more people for the next eight weeks. In light of this, our pastoral staff has decided to suspend all in-person worship services at New Life on both campuses until further notice. This means that our Sunday worship gatherings will move fully online beginning THIS Sunday, March 22.

For now, our online services will be offered on Facebook Live ( & The online worship service schedule is still to be determined, so please be checking our social media feeds regularly. Furthermore, with exception of office staff meetings, we will be suspending all in-person meetings that take place during the week at each of our campus facilities.

All of these changes do not mean that ministry has to stop. In fact, this new reality is an occasion for greater awareness, creativity, prayer, and care for one another. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at, or call our central office at (562) 921-6200. Our staff and ministry teams will be working hard to respond to the needs of our congregation and the larger community as this situation unfolds.

Let us leave you with four things we can all do:

1. Pray – for God to bring protection, provision, healing, peace, and an effective resolution to this crisis.

2. Act responsibly.

3. Respect the space of others.

4. Rest in God and Stand on His Promises

Jeremiah 33:6

Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Ken Bringas and the New Life Pastors

To the New Life Family:

By now you will have seen several messages similar to this one from schools, workplaces, daycares, etc. We will try not to overwhelm you with more facts and updates about the Coronavirus, especially since the expert information about all of this can and should be obtained from the CDC or the DOH website. Below are a couple of links with reliable information on the virus.

Having said that, we do want to share with you a couple of things regarding all of this.

First and foremost, we encourage you to BE PRAYING.
Instead of living in fear, let us respond in faith through one or more of the following: Begin to declare God’s word of healing over yourself and others. Ask for prayer for your health.

You can request prayer by e-mailing us at or call our church office (562) 921-6200.

Pray for the patients and the families of those affected by COVID-19, here in the US and also globally. Pray for protection over your families and friends.

It is easy to let anxiety creep in and push us all into panic mode, hence the mass shortage of masks, Lysol, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, etc. everywhere right now. While it is not wrong to be concerned and prepared for any type of crisis, it is also good to remind ourselves in seasons of uncertainty that ultimately, we are not in control. We lean on Christ, as the one who can and will fill us with hope and peace when fear threatens to overwhelm us. So, today or tomorrow or next week, when you find yourself giving into unhelpful anxiety, we ask that you would join us in prayer.

Secondly, SERVICES WILL CONTINUE at our normal times this Sunday on both campuses and we will continue to keep you updated as things change and develop over the coming days. Our current Sunday attendance has been under 250 people, and we feel that we can maintain healthy social distancing standards whenever we are gathered.

Please be assured that our team here at New Life is doing all that we can to minimize the spread of not just COVID-19, but any contagious illness or infection. On each campus, we seek to maintain a strict health policy for our Kids Ministry. At our Kids Ministry Check-In and outside of each classroom we have posted information detailing what will and will not be allowed inside of the classrooms. If we notice symptoms of any possible contagious illness while your child is in the classroom, we will call you to come get your child and immediately care for the other kids by hand- washing and sanitizing the room. Please understand that this is not meant to feel punitive, but is an expression of our love and care for you and your families. Speaking of sanitizing, we plan on sanitizing the Kids Ministry spaces (surfaces, toys, etc.) before, between, and after services every Sunday and during events throughout the week. We also encourage hand washing (with soap and water or hand sanitizer) with your kids before they enter the classroom, when they go to the bathroom, and when they leave the classroom. All of this is part of our practice and will continue to be enforced throughout this time. We will continue to stay up to date with the latest recommendations from the CDC and adjust our practices as advised. Shout out to our amazing Kids Church staff and volunteers without whom any of this would be possible!

As for the rest of the building, it is thoroughly cleansed and sanitized in preparation for services each week, and we will continue to do so. We will have extra bottles of hand sanitizer scattered throughout the building (as supplies last) and of course there is good old-fashioned soap and water in the bathrooms.

Lastly, no matter what is currently happening in the world or what time of year it is, there are always those whose immune systems are compromised. It is our job to love them the best that we can. So, whether you are trying to avoid Coronavirus, Influenza, or any other unpleasant illness here are some necessary practices for everyone year round.

1. WASH YOUR HANDS. Frequently, with soap and water or hand-sanitizer for 20-30 seconds. Cover your cough/sneeze and try not to touch your face.
2. If you or your children are sick (coughing, sneezing, runny nose, shortness of breath, etc.) even mildly sick, STAY HOME. If you are unsure if you are still contagious, always feel free to reference the CDC website or call your doctor’s office.
3. CARE & RESPECT. If someone stays home, check on them via text, phone call, or email. See if there is any way you can support those who are quarantined, sick, or staying home to avoid getting sick. If you are feeling well and attend services, then respect people’s space.

There are a myriad of ways to communicate love and care that don’t result in the spread of illness.

If you choose to stay home, please know that you can still stay connected! We add our sermons to the podcast each week and are working on getting a video-cast going as well. You can also keep updated on all that is happening at New Life by visiting our social media pages (Facebook and Instagram) and our website at

We love you and are keeping you all in prayer. Stay safe and healthy everyone!
